The new year started three months ago. Since then, I’ve made little changes here and there to the attic room, selling some old pieces and replacing them with new ones. Here’s a little tour of some of those updates…
MATCHY MATCHY NIGHTSTANDS
If you saw previous photos of my bed setup, you would’ve seen mismatched nightstands with the white storage bench and brass floor lamp on the right side of the bed. I sold that white storage bench to a sweet elderly lady in town and moved the brass floor lamp next to my pink chair, to create a cozier reading area. In replacement, I purchased another midcentury tapper-legged nightstand. This new round little nightstand looks a lot like my Penelope desk, so I just couldn’t resist it when I saw it. I also having matching eyeball sconce lamps too! Now my bed setup looks more symmetrical, but still has a slight mismatch to keep it looking interesting.
READING CORNER
Here’s where the brass floor lamp is now! This corner was looking dreary, with just the pink chair there. I thought that I’d liven up the space with the lamp and a stack of white books. The stack of white books acts as a side table too. Now, I have a cozy reading corner to curl up with a book and a coffee or tea in hand.
CLASSIC CAFE WALNUT DINING CHAIR
For my workspace area, I traded in that light grey Scandinavian chair for this Classic Cafe Walnut Dining Chair from West Elm. I have this desire to turn my workspace into a coffee-shop like space, so this chair fits the bill!
BAR CART
I’ve ALWAYS wanted a bar cart. However, I thought that it wasn’t very practical, because I don’t have my own living room to entertain guests. Bar carts are quite expensive too. One day though, I realized that I was running out of space to store my books, magazines, stationary, and random nicknacks. I didn’t have a bookshelf, and I started to envy all the beautiful “shelfie” setups out there. A bulky bookshelf wouldn’t match well with the low-ceilings of an attic room. So, my solution? A bar cart! I found some great vintage ones on Craigslist for $20-$30, but someone else always seemed to snatch them from me first. Then low and behold, I found this $23 white bar cart from Ikea! It vibes harmoniously with my attic room decor, and the best part is, I can do shelfies now!
